Is it winter, or is it home?

It snows in the mountains, but rains at home. Why is it winter? What is it that makes this season something we all know? Sometimes I get so confused living in California, with the green hills, brown desert rocks, bright cold sunshine, icy roads, snowcapped mountains, and frosted trees. How can it all belong in one state, in such close proximity. In the last twenty four hours I've launched down mountains of powdered snow into the desert of Compton's concrete jungle. Sun struggles past snowflakes, and twenty hours later filters through smog and filth. The golden state offers much more than is advertised.

Lately, I've been rather disenchanted with academic life. Responsibility is wearing down my luster, even just the little bit that i have. I wanna move to Italy and open a bakery. Or perhaps spend awhile in Morocco dancing on the beach. I've been at this for too long and am ready for something new...

don't equate, juxtapose, collate or differentiate

I don't like that there is one word for happiness. Each moment brings with it potential for a joy that is different than any that has ever enveloped anyone. There is no comparing happiness.

Blessing

The sinews of her face pull into the position I know to be a smile. But not just a smile. Happiness. There is none greater than mine in this moment, as I see lips part to express pure joy. 

I never knew this happiness before this moment, and will never know this happiness again. I will find it new in every moment that succeeds this one.
